Teacher Leaders
You are the person who brings Educators Rising to life in your school. We're here to give you the tools, opportunities, and support to make that experience meaningful for your students.
You Don't Have to Build This Alone.
Being a Teacher Leader doesn't mean adding another complicated program to your plate. Start simple. Bring students together, help them explore the profession, create opportunities to experience classrooms, and encourage them to showcase what they're learning. Educators Rising South Dakota is here to help along the way.

Open the New Chapter Guide →Explore. Experience. Showcase.
You don't need to fill every week of the school year. Instead, build a chapter experience that gives students opportunities in each of these three areas.

Build a Rhythm for Your Chapter.
We encourage chapters to meet about once each month. Your meetings don't have to be complicated. They should give students a reason to connect, lead, serve, learn, and stay engaged with education.
The goal is not simply to have meetings. The goal is to create experiences that keep students excited about their future.
A Strong Month Might Include:
A short chapter meeting led by students.
A classroom or service experience.
Planning for an upcoming Learning Expo or event.
Time to explore a career or hear from an educator.
Student leadership and ownership of what's next.
Para-Apprenticeship Opportunity
For students who are ready to take the next step, the Para-Apprenticeship creates an opportunity to begin building their future in education while they are still in high school.
Students can earn college credit toward the Gateway to Teaching Certificate while also gaining meaningful, paid experience working in their own school district as a paraprofessional.
Teacher Leaders can play an important role in identifying students who are ready for this opportunity and helping them take the next step.
Help Students Put Their Skills on Display.
Competitive events give students an opportunity to take what they're learning and put it into action. Encourage your members to explore the available education events and find one that connects with their interests and strengths.
The competition resource includes event information, requirements, and rubrics to help students and Teacher Leaders prepare.
